Plymouth Clock Co. Inlaid Beehive Mantel Clock, 8-Day No. 891 Movement
An arch-top mantel clock by the Plymouth Clock Co. of Thomaston, Connecticut, a marque associated with the Seth Thomas family of Connecticut clockmaking. The silvered dial carries raised gilt Arabic numerals in a stylized 1920s–30s deco font, black filigree hands, and the printed S ● F regulation marker, PLYMOUTH, and MADE IN U.S.A. Two winding arbors flank the center for the time and strike trains, protected behind a convex glass bezel.
The walnut-toned case is dressed with light stringing inlay outlining the front panel and a fan-and-swag marquetry motif below the dial. Inside is the No. 891 Series 8-day pendulum movement, confirmed by the original factory Guarantee and Directions paper still tacked to the back door and the movement plate stamped 891. The rear door opens on brass hinges to the coiled gong and pendulum bob. Two winding keys are included.
CONDITION
Good with age-appropriate wear throughout. The brass bezel shows scuffing and the case has scattered dings and scratches. The time train runs fine; the chime is non-functional. Two keys included.
