Description

Robinson Ransbottom R-Series Blue Banded Stoneware Mixing Bowls, Set of 3

A graduated set of three heavy stoneware nesting mixing bowls in a warm cream body, each finished with a bold cobalt band bordered by fine incised rings above and below. The molded, rolled rims and ringed lower bodies place these squarely in the long American kitchen tradition of banded stoneware mixing bowls — the everyday workhorse of the home baker. Each bowl carries an impressed size code on the unglazed footring: R7, R8, and R9. This "R-series" impressed size-code system is a well-documented production mark of Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio, a major American stoneware producer operating continuously from 1900 through the late 20th century whose banded mixing bowls are a staple of the American country kitchen collecting market.

The three bowls stack cleanly for compact storage and step from a small prep bowl up to a large batch bowl suited to bread dough or a full mixing job. The glossy glazed interiors and banded exteriors read equally well as active kitchenware or open-shelf display alongside other period American stoneware.

CONDITION

Good. Shelf wear and crazing throughout the glaze, consistent with age and use. Minor surface soiling and scuffing to the unglazed footrings on the larger bowls; no major chips or cracks noted.
