Craftsman-Made Mid-Century Oak Two-Piece Breakfront Bookcase Cabinet
A substantial two-piece breakfront in solid oak with oak-faced plywood panels, built by a custom shop or skilled craftsman in the mid-20th century. The upper section carries four glass-panel doors with slim turned metal pulls, opening to fixed shelves spaced at 12" intervals; the lower section houses four flush-panel doors fitted with ornate Rococo-style cast bail pulls.
The two units stack on a simple platform base and separate cleanly for handling — a practical feature given the piece stands 81" tall and nearly 50" wide. Back panels are unfinished knotty pine/fir plywood with nailed construction, and shelf placement in the base is set on metal shelf pins.
CONDITION
Good with no remarkable damage. Some red paint or crayon marks are present on the top and bottom shelves (see supplemental reference images), and there is chipping to the veneer in spots. Doors and shelves are sound; overall a serviceable, honest piece.
