Franciscan Desert Rose Tea Set — Teapot, Creamer & Sugar, 3-Piece Service
A three-piece tea service in Franciscan Desert Rose, the hand-painted embossed pattern introduced by Gladding, McBean & Co. in 1941 and produced in California through the postwar decades. The set comprises a lidded teapot, a lidded sugar bowl, and an open creamer, each in the warm ivory earthenware body with pink open roses, buds, and green foliage on molded branch-form handles and finials. The undersides carry the Franciscan Earthenware, Made in U.S.A. backstamp.
Desert Rose remains one of the most produced American dinnerware patterns of the twentieth century, valued for its raised floral relief and hand-decorated finish. This grouping gives the serving core of the tea table — pot, cream, and sugar — with all three lids present, the twig-form handles and rose-bud knobs intact.
CONDITION
Excellent. No damage noted; glaze is bright and the hand-painted decoration is strong across all pieces. All three lids present and correct.
