Repurposed Antique Radio Cabinet on Turned-Leg Base, Distressed Cream Finish
An early radio cabinet given a second life as an open display case, finished in a heavily distressed cream paint that reveals warm wood tones beneath. The upper case sits on a stretcher-joined base of six turned baluster legs ending in bun feet, tied by a boxed lower stretcher. A carved leaf-and-dart frieze runs across the cornice, framing the open front, and reeded pilasters flank the display bay on either side.
The interior carries a fixed shelf that divides the cabinet into two open bays — an upper compartment and a taller lower one, the latter accented by an arched valance detail. With its speaker grille and dial hardware removed, the former radio housing now reads as a slim curio or entry cabinet.
CONDITION
Good and sturdy overall, with a deliberately distressed finish. Paint is chipped throughout with finish wear and areas of exposed wood consistent with the intended shabby-chic treatment. The top shows a full-length split running front to back and light staining to the interior surfaces.
