Studio Pottery Salt-Glaze Pitcher & Speckled Chip 'N' Dip Server
A two-piece grouping of hand-thrown studio stoneware. The pitcher stands on a bulbous salt-glazed body, its lower half in a mottled near-black glaze broken by a broad orange-peel band at the shoulder and neck. Roulette-wheel zigzag lines fan up from the base like the ribs of a gourd, and a heavily textured strap handle with a rope-like surface curves from rim to belly. The pulled spout and thick throwing rings mark it as wheel-work made to be used.
CONDITION
Good with no damage. Glaze surfaces are intact across both pieces, with the speckling and orange-peel texture original to the salt-firing rather than wear. Normal light handling marks consistent with functional studio ware.
