Pietra Dura Style Floral & Bird Mosaic Top Iron Side Table with Glass
A round side table pairing a hardstone mosaic top — worked in the pietra dura tradition — with a hand-forged iron base and a removable protective glass overlay. The inlay reads as a lapis-blue field patterned with roses, blossoms, foliage, and perched birds arranged across a central medallion and four surrounding cartouches, the design bordered in white marble. Assorted colored stones make up the floral and avian motifs against the deep blue ground.
The base is wrought iron in a two-tier form: four flat vertical uprights joined by applied scrollwork brackets, drawing up to the top ring and down to a lower circular stretcher shelf. The frame shows a heavily patinated, partly rusted finish that suits the old-world character of the top. A 1/2" glass top sits recessed within the ring to shield the mosaic in use, and lifts free for cleaning. Materials are iron, stone, and glass.
CONDITION
Good, with no remarkable damage. Scratches to the glass top and some discoloration to the stone inlay (see reference photo). Iron base carries surface rust and patina consistent with age and the intended rustic look.
