Cast Aluminum Devotional Wall Crosses, Set of 2 — European Mid-Century Modern
A pair of cast aluminum wall crosses in the sculptural mid-century idiom that flourished in postwar European liturgical workshops. The smaller of the two carries a raised inner cross set with a textured, teardrop-punched channel down its length, framed by clean beveled borders and finished to a bright, hand-polished sheen. The larger cross takes a bolder, more expressive tack: deeply combed vertical striations run the full length of both arms and shaft, interrupted at the crossing by a band of concentric flower-and-ring roundels rendered in relief.
Both are cast aluminum and unmarked, wall-mountable, and finished with the reflective surface and rough-cast recesses characteristic of small-batch devotional metalwork from the 1960s and 70s. The contrast between the two — one restrained and linear, the other richly textured — makes them read well as a grouped display or split across a hallway or prayer corner.
CONDITION
Excellent. No damage. Bright polished surfaces with the expected rough-cast texture in the recessed areas; ready to hang.
