Sony SS-112 Two-Way Bookshelf Speakers, Walnut, U.S.-Assembled — Pair
A matched pair of Sony SS-112 two-way bookshelf loudspeakers in walnut-finish cabinets, each fitted with a removable brown textile grille carrying the metal SONY badge at the upper left. Behind the grille, each cabinet mounts a dome tweeter on a brass bracket and a paper-cone woofer on a black baffle, with a circular bass-reflex port at the upper right. Both rear panels retain the original spec labels confirming U.S. assembly.
The SS-112 was part of Sony's consumer bookshelf line of the late 1960s and early 1970s, designed to pair with compact integrated amplifiers and entry-level receivers of the era. At 20W max input and 8 ohms, they slot naturally into the kind of modest-power vintage systems — a Sony STR or TA integrated, a Pioneer SX receiver — that are actively sought today for exactly this sort of matching speaker. Factory-terminated speaker wire is present and bundled at each cabinet. The woofer cones are in good shape on both units.
CONDITION
Good overall. Cabinets show scuffing and minor scuffing to the walnut finish, with finish flaking to the rear panels near the wire exits and some chipping along the lower edges of the rear fiberboard. Cones are in good shape on both units. The Sony emblem on one grille is damaged — letters partially missing.
