Cantilever Fold-Out Sewing Box, Solid Wood with Brass Accordion Arms
A three-tier cantilever sewing box in solid wood, the kind that sits closed as a tidy chest and unfolds sideways on scissoring brass arms to present six graduated compartments across two mirrored wings. The central lift handle rises through the middle, with a shaped, scalloped crest and matching side supports; twin lidded top compartments open. The lower boxes swing out on riveted brass linkage, each accessible without disturbing the tier above.
This is the classic mid-century make-do sewing companion — a form found across European and American workrooms from the 1930s through the 1950s. The unmarked case and scalloped apron feet point to a well-made but unbranded shop piece. Sold empty; sewing contents shown in supplemental reference images are not included in this lot.
CONDITION
Good with signs of previous use. Scuffing and scratches throughout the surfaces, including finish rub to the top and edge wear at the apron feet. Brass arms operate and the box folds and opens as intended.
