Description

Marquette Cast Iron Hydraulic Floor Jack, Mid-20th C., Cobalt Blue

This is the kind of jack that lived in a real garage — a big, heavy, American-made floor jack built by Marquette Manufacturing Co. of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Back when every filling station and truck depot had one, this is what they used to lift cars and trucks off the ground so the mechanic could get underneath. You rolled it across the shop floor on its four wheels — two big cast-iron wheels up front and two small swivel casters in back — pushed the long handle up and down to pump it, and the saddle on top rose up under the vehicle. It still works exactly that way today. Somebody painted it cobalt blue a long time ago, and patches of that original blue paint are still holding on underneath all the rust and wear.

The cast iron is thick and heavy — this is not a lightweight tool. The T-shaped handle at the top of the pump gives you something solid to grip while you work. Marquette made these for commercial shops — service stations, truck yards, fleet garages — not for home use. You do not see them very often anymore. This one still goes up and down just like it should.

CONDITION

Fair overall, but fully functional — tested and confirmed operational, with the lift raising to full height under load. Heavy surface rust, paint fading, and finish loss throughout, with original cobalt blue enamel still visible in patches beneath the rust. This jack has clearly lived in a working shop and possibly outdoors; all of the wear is honest and consistent with a long life of hard use. Sold as-is.
