Wrought Iron Garden Trellis with Scrolling Fiddlehead Crest
A tall wrought iron garden trellis built around a pair of straight side rails capped with small ball finials. The open center is filled with sinuous, freehand curves that cross and weave up the length of the panel, resolving at the top into four coiled fiddlehead scrolls of varying size. The base is anchored by a broad half-round arch that ties the composition to the floor and extends into two ground stakes for planting. Construction is unmarked, with the linear, organic drawing quality that points to individual handwork rather than production casting.
The scale suits climbing roses, clematis, or morning glory against a wall or fence, and the graphic silhouette reads equally well as freestanding sculpture in a border. The rust and oxidation are consistent with time spent outdoors and give the piece an earned garden patina rather than a finished-showroom look.
CONDITION
Good with honest signs of outdoor use. Overall surface rust and oxidation throughout, heaviest toward the ground stakes; structure is sound and the ironwork holds its form.
