Antique Distressed White Rococo-Style Nightstand with Carved Door
A single-drawer, single-door nightstand in a distressed white painted finish, standing on turned and fluted front legs with plain square rear legs. The cabinet door carries a raised scrollwork cartouche in Rococo taste, flanked by a molded cornice top with canted, reeded front corners and a scalloped skirt below. Both the drawer and door use molded round knobs finished to match the case.
The interior offers a dovetailed drawer with a 3" depth over a fixed shelf with 6" of clearance. The original lock and keyhole mechanism have been painted over, and a rectangular opening has been cut into the back panel — practical modifications from an earlier working life. The distressing to edges, legs, and corners is by design, revealing warm wood tone beneath the cream paint at wear points.
CONDITION
Good with age-appropriate wear; the case is sturdy. Previously painted, with the lock and mechanism painted over and a hole cut in the rear panel. Paint loss and distressing to edges, legs, and corners are by design. Key is absent.
