Stanley Distinctive Furniture Mid-Century Sideboard, Bow-Front, Blue-Painted
A mid-century sideboard by Stanley Furniture, marked "Distinctive Furniture by Stanley" in a burned drawer stamp and bearing a "60102" ink stamp on a drawer bottom. The case is solid wood with a center bank of three bow-front drawers flanked by two cabinet doors, each opening to shelved storage. The drawers ride on center guides with dovetailed construction, and the current finish is a hand-applied blue paint — brighter on the case, deeper blue-teal on the top — with a green felt-lined drawer runner section.
The pulls are the standout: cast gilt-tone Atomic-Age hardware in elongated, spear-tipped and diamond-pierced forms typical of late-1950s to early-1960s American production. Drawer fronts carry the double-diamond and winged-spear designs; the upper flanking drawers add a basketweave-textured panel. Functionally sound throughout, this is a serviceable casegood with strong period character and a fresh, bold color statement.
CONDITION
Cosmetically Fair; function Excellent. Paint chipping mostly along the front frame edges and top edge, with worn spots revealing bare wood. A red stain marks the bottom interior of the left cabinet, and additional staining is present inside. Drawers and doors operate smoothly.
