Brazilin for West Elm Mid-Century Walnut & Glass Coffee Table, 2020
Built on a pair of interlocking X-frames that taper to sharp compass points at each corner, this cocktail table turns a structural problem — how to support a floating glass top without visible hardware — into its primary design statement. The 3/8" thick removable glass top with softly rounded corners rests on a canted, boat-shaped wood cradle integrated into the base, that cradle doubling as an open magazine and book rack. The dark-stained interior trough reads as a deliberate contrast against the warmer walnut-toned frame, giving the piece its dynamic two-tone character from every angle.
The Brazilin line for West Elm draws its vocabulary from mid-century Italian and Scandinavian sculptural furniture — cantilevered geometry, tapered points, and the marriage of storage function with base structure. The underside label confirms the manufacturer as Brazilin, imported by Williams-Sonoma Inc., manufactured August 2020 in Vietnam. Condition is essentially new: this piece has barely been used.
