Danish Modern Teak & Glass Pedestal Dining Table, 1970s
A Danish Modern dining table from the 1970s pairing a floating round glass top with a sculptural teak-veneer base. The base is built from two separate angled sections, each an L-form panel that mirrors the other to form a partial open box beneath the glass. Brass-finished disc bumpers set into the top edges of each panel cradle the glass and prevent slippage — a clean, hardware-forward solution typical of the period's Scandinavian design language.
The 36-inch round glass top sits low against the base, letting the vertical grain of the teak read as the visual anchor of the piece. The two-piece base breaks apart for handling, and the whole table comes disassembled for convenient transportation. The teak veneer is unmarked; construction and material are consistent with Danish or Scandinavian production of the era.
CONDITION
Good overall. The glass top shows light surface scratches and two chipped corners (see photos). The teak base shows scattered finish wear, lightened patches, and minor edge losses at the base corners consistent with age and use.
