Fitz and Floyd Black Coupe Cup & Saucer Service for Eight, 1978
A service for eight in high-gloss black glaze by Fitz and Floyd, dated 1978. Each straight-sided coupe cup carries a slender curved handle and pairs with a wide, shallow saucer, the deep black glaze reading almost lacquer-like under light. The undersides carry the maker's mark: FITZ AND FLOYD, INC. © MCMLXXVIII JAPAN, FF.
The set reflects Fitz and Floyd's late-1970s move toward clean, monochrome modernist tableware — a departure from the brand's better-known ornamental and figural lines. The uniform black surface and unadorned cylindrical form give the service a graphic presence that suits contemporary place settings. Sixteen pieces total: eight cups and eight saucers.
CONDITION
Very Good with no damage. Gentle signs of handling consistent with age; glaze remains glossy throughout. Please review all photos for details.
