Kathy Hook Watercolor — Spanish Mission Church with Bell Tower & Arched Gate
An atmospheric watercolor of a Spanish colonial-style mission church under a brooding, cloud-streaked sky, signed Kathy Hook lower left. Hook builds the adobe and stucco facade in warm ochres and earthen browns, the masonry rendered with granulated washes and spatter that read as weathered plaster and brick. A square bell tower rises at left, draped in vines, while a cross-topped gable crowns the arched wooden gate at right — the deep blue storm sky behind throwing the sunlit walls into relief.
The composition trades on classic New Mexico subject matter through a wet-on-wet handling that keeps the foreground shadows loose and the architecture crisp. Professionally framed under glass with a double mat, the piece is ready to hang.
CONDITION
Excellent, no damage. Colors are fresh and the sheet presents cleanly within the matting. Framed under glass; not examined out of frame.
