Leonid Afremov "Portofino Harbor" Embellished Giclée on Canvas, Signed 2/25
A vivid palette-knife harbor scene by Leonid Afremov, rendered as a hand-embellished giclée on canvas. The composition stacks the candy-bright facades of a Mediterranean waterfront — yellow, coral, and cream buildings — against a roiling sky broken into Afremov's signature mosaic of orange, cobalt, and emerald strokes. Moored sailboats stripe the foreground water with mirrored reflections. The surface carries raised, hand-applied paint passages over the print, lending genuine texture to the highlights and rigging.
The work is signed lower right "Leonid Afremov" in the painted surface and inscribed on the verso "Leonid Afremov 2008, 2/25" — a numbered edition of 25. Afremov (1955–2019), born in Vitebsk, Belarus, built an international following for his luminous knife-worked cityscapes and harbor views, and his embellished editions were issued in tightly numbered runs. The canvas is unframed and unglazed, gallery-wrapped on a 3/4" stretcher with finished edges suitable for hanging as-is.
CONDITION
Very Good. Bright, saturated color with crisp embellishment texture across the surface; no visible losses, tears, or staining. Canvas is taut on the stretcher. Unframed gallery-wrap edges show minor handling consistent with age.
