Brass Library Telescope on Mahogany Tripod Stand, Decorative
A floor-standing refracting telescope in polished brass, mounted on a folding mahogany tripod with brass leg caps, chain stays, and a thumb-screw collar for height adjustment. The drawtube extends from the eyepiece end and the dew shield is fitted with a chained lens cap. Optics are clear. Materials are brass and wood, unmarked.
The telescope separates into two sections and lifts free of the gimbal mount for transport. This is a decorative library- or floor-model in the traditional 19th-century maritime style rather than an instrument-grade observing scope. The brass tube shows the bright finish and slim profile typical of the form, suited to a study, library, or seaside-themed interior.
CONDITION
Good with no remarkable damage. One ding to the brass tube and light surface scratching across the barrel; minor scuffing to the tripod base. The lens cap is stuck and could not be removed. Optics are clear.
