Astronaut Rick Hieb Signed NASA Official Portrait — Inscribed to Sam Dixon
Color NASA portrait of astronaut Richard J. "Rick" Hieb, shown in the powder-blue NASA flight jacket with the American flag and a Space Shuttle stack model at his side. Boldly inscribed in black felt-tip across the upper-left field: "To Sam Dixon, Best Wishes, Rick Hieb." The printed caption reads "Richard J. Hieb" along the lower margin. Standard NASA Johnson Space Center issue; the reverse carries the JSC public-information text and stock number JSCIL-389.
Hieb flew three Shuttle missions — STS-39, STS-49, and STS-65 — and is best remembered for the unprecedented three-person spacewalk on STS-49 (1992) to hand-capture the stranded Intelsat VI satellite, still the only three-astronaut EVA in program history. A Certificate of Authenticity from Mesilla Valley Estate Sales will be issued with this lot.
CONDITION
Very Good. Clean color portrait with a strong, legible signature and inscription. Light handling consistent with age; no major creasing or staining noted.
