Handcrafted Mixed Exotic Hardwood Cutting Board, Edge-Grain Stripe
An edge-grain laminated board assembled from four contrasting hardwoods in a bold, symmetrical stripe layout. Wide border strips of deep espresso-toned wood with coarse open grain and pale ray-fleck streaking anchor each end — most consistent with wenge, though a dark-toned rosewood or similar tropical species is possible. Two broad panels of dramatically figured, streaky-grained pale wood flank a central band of saturated brick-red — the figured panels read strongly as zebrawood, while the rich red center stripe is most consistent with African padauk. Thin accent strips of pale, close-grained wood — likely maple or a comparable light hardwood — separate each section, sharpening the contrast between the darker species and giving the whole composition a clean, almost architectural rhythm.
Edges are softly rounded on all four corners, and the board lies flat with solid, well-bonded construction — no separation or lifting at the glue lines. No maker's mark or signature is present. Boards like this are typically custom shop work or a serious hobbyist's project: functional, heavy enough to stay put on the counter, and designed with deliberate attention to how the species play off one another.
CONDITION
Good with previous signs of use; the board remains sturdy with no remarkable damage. Light surface scratches and knife marks are present across the working face, most concentrated on the central red stripe. Glue lines are tight and the board lies flat with no warping.
