Description

Merle Haggard Country LP Lot of 6 — Capitol Originals & Willie Nelson "Red Headed Stranger"

A six-record run of 1960s–1970s country vinyl, weighted toward Merle Haggard and The Strangers in their Capitol prime. Included are Keep Movin' On (ST-11365, 1975), The Fightin' Side of Me (ST-451, recorded live in Philadelphia), Okie From Muskogee (ST-384, the live Oklahoma set), Totally Instrumental With One Exception (ST-11141, 1973), and the two-record Same Train, A Different Time (SWBB-223), Haggard's tribute to Jimmie Rodgers. Rounding out the lot is Willie Nelson's landmark Red Headed Stranger (Columbia KC 33482, 1975).

The Haggard titles span his Bakersfield-to-stardom arc — live concert documents, a band showcase fronting Roy Nichols and Norm Hamlet, and the Rodgers homage that tied him to his Depression-era influences. Red Headed Stranger stands apart as Nelson's outlaw-era breakthrough, the spare concept album that produced "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain." All single-owner, most acquired new in the 1960s and 1970s.

CONDITION

Good overall, playable as shown. Jackets show age-appropriate wear — edge wear, ring wear, surface scuffing, and shelf soil; the Same Train gatefold and Okie From Muskogee jacket show heavier handling, the latter with a dated ink notation to the back cover. No unpleasant odors.
