Mid-Century Craftsman-Made LP Record Storage Cabinet, Plywood with Sliding Doors
A low-profile storage cabinet built for vinyl, with two sliding plywood doors that draw back to reveal divided cubbies sized for LPs. The case is hand-crafted of solid plywood with Masonite dividers, the partitions cut with scalloped front profiles that ease record retrieval. Twenty-four compartments are arranged across two stacked rows on either flank, each bay measuring roughly 13" wide and 14" deep — purpose-built for 12" record sleeves stored upright.
The doors ride in a top-and-bottom track and carry simple recessed brass cup pulls, sliding to expose one half of the storage while concealing the other. The fir-grain plywood shows the bold cathedral figure typical of mid-century shop construction, and the quality of the joinery and the care taken with the scalloped divider profiles point to a skilled hand rather than factory production. The overall form — long, low, and compact in depth — reads as a purpose-built record library from a period when home audio collections were growing fast.
CONDITION
Good. Surface scuffs, light scratches, and minor finish wear throughout consistent with use; some chipping and finish loss to one top corner edge. Doors slide on their tracks and dividers remain intact.
