Description

Wrought Iron Floor Lamp with Acanthus Tripod Base, Rawhide Shade & Green Finial

A well-made adjustable-height floor lamp in the Continental revival idiom — the kind of piece that anchors a hacienda-style great room or a richly furnished study without apology. The wrought iron tripod base is the selling point: three scrolled legs sweep outward from a central column, each terminating in a cast shell-form foot with fine surface detail and a warm coppered patina reading against the dark iron. Acanthus castings climb the junction of legs and column, and a ribbon-scroll collar brackets the upper shaft where it meets the adjustable section. A thumbscrew locking collar lets the working height range from a low 58.5" to a tall 82.5", making it genuinely useful in rooms with high ceilings or architectural beams. The column is finished with a swirled green resin flame finial in a fluted metal cap — a period-appropriate touch that reads as art glass from across the room.

The rawhide bell shade is the right call here — translucent warm panels with whipstitched lacing at upper and lower edges, the kind of handcraft detail that reinforces rather than competes with the ironwork below. The lamp is wired with a 3-way pull-chain socket, giving you a reading level, an ambient level, and full bright. The overall vocabulary — forged iron, leather, shell and acanthus ornament — reads naturally in adobe interiors, lodge rooms, or any space where the bones are Spanish Colonial or Arts and Crafts revival.

CONDITION

Good overall and fully functional — tested working across all three light levels with no remarkable damage. Iron surfaces carry expected patina with some coppered finish variation concentrated at the acanthus castings and shell feet. Rawhide shade is intact with light, even age-toning throughout.
