Bombay Company Mahogany-Finish Empire Revival Pedestal with Green Marble Top
An Empire Revival column pedestal by The Bombay Company, finished in deep mahogany tone with a circular frieze mounted with cast brass rosette medallions. Three turned and reeded columns rise from a concave-sided triangular plinth, each capped top and bottom with gilt-brass collars in the Neoclassical manner. The crown carries a 5/8" thick green marble top with characteristic white veining, polished and bullnose-edged.
The maker's brass plaque reads "The Bombay Company — U.S.A. & Canada," with an accompanying paper label noting Made in Taiwan, 1990. A sturdy display stand sized for a sculpture, vase, or potted plant, drawing on the French Empire vocabulary of columnar supports and ormolu-style mounts that Bombay reproduced for the late-century furnishings market.
CONDITION
Good. Light scuffs and scratches throughout the wood finish, with minor chips noted. The marble top shows light scuffs and scratches. Structurally sturdy.
