Description

Robert L. "Hoot" Gibson Signed Autograph — Space Shuttle Commander, Astronaut

Cream "Autograph of" card bearing the bold ink signature of Robert L. "Hoot" Gibson, the U.S. Navy aviator and NASA astronaut who flew five Space Shuttle missions between 1984 and 1995, commanding four of them — including STS-71, the first Shuttle-Mir docking. The front features a brown-printed engraving of the U.S. Capitol dome beneath a ruled "Autograph of" header, with Gibson's signature crossing the field in black.

The verso carries a pencil notation in a collector's hand reading "Lt. Robert Gibson / Astronaut," placing the inscription early in his service. Gibson, a former chief of the Astronaut Office, logged more than 36 days in space across his Shuttle career. This card comes directly from the collection of the individual who personally obtained the autograph, and the lot includes a certificate of authenticity issued by Mesilla Valley Estate Sales along with a signed letter from the original acquirer attesting to the provenance.

CONDITION

Very Good. Signature is bold and fully legible. Card stock shows minor handling; pencil notation to verso is light but readable. No tears or major soiling.
