NASA Space Shuttle Missions Patch Chart, STS-1 through 51-L, 1986
NASA composite print displaying the embroidered mission insignia for the first 25 Space Shuttle flights, from STS-1 (April 1981) through 51-L (January 28, 1986). Each patch is captioned with mission designation, orbiter, and flight dates, opening with Columbia's maiden Young/Crippen voyage and closing with the Challenger 51-L crew. The four operational orbiters of the early program are represented — Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, and Atlantis.
The chart captures the program's first five years as a single visual record, the patches arranged in chronological grid against deep navy. Its closing entry is the 51-L insignia bearing McAuliffe, Jarvis, McNair, Onizuka, Resnik, Scobee, and Smith — the date stamp making this a document produced at the very threshold of the program's most consequential moment. Original NASA photographic print.
CONDITION
Excellent. Colors remain saturated and the surface is clean with no notable creasing or loss.
