Frank M. Whiting & Co. Sterling Silver & Pressed Glass Coasters, Set of 4
A set of four Frank M. Whiting & Co. sterling silver-rimmed coasters with pressed glass inserts featuring a radiating starburst pattern at the base. Each rim shows the maker's signature beaded edge surrounding the well, with the sterling collar wrapping a low, flared glass dish. All four pieces are clearly marked "FRANK M. WHITING & CO. STERLING 4" on the exterior.
Frank M. Whiting & Co. operated out of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, from the late 19th century until the firm was absorbed by Ellmore Silver Co. in the 1940s. Their sterling-mounted glass coasters and bottle coasters became a hallmark of mid-century American entertaining — practical at the cocktail hour, dignified enough for the dining table. A coordinated set of four makes for a useful and decorative grouping.
CONDITION
Good with age-appropriate wear. Sterling rims show minor dents and dings along with light surface scratches and tarnish; no damage to the glass inserts. Polishing left to the buyer.
