Antique Quartersawn Oak Industrial Swivel Desk Chair on Brass Casters
A turn-of-the-century industrial swivel desk chair in solid quartersawn white oak, the kind that filled clerks' offices, drafting rooms, and factory floors across America from the 1900s through the 1930s. The saddle-shaped seat shows the prized tiger-stripe ray fleck of quartersawn stock, hand-shaped to cradle the sitter, with a contoured T-back floating on a single oak spindle. Cast iron swivel mechanism, four boldly scrolled oak legs, and original-style brass-capped ball casters complete the package.
This is the workhorse vernacular of the American industrial age — built before ergonomics had a name, but engineered for an eight-hour shift at a ledger or drafting table.
CONDITION
Good overall and sturdy in use. Discoloration to the seat surface with a darker stain area and a small knot mark. Backrest is loose at its mount.
