Tlaquepaque Terracotta Oval Platters & Serving Dishes, Set of 8
A set of eight hand-thrown Tlaquepaque terracotta serving pieces, each finished in a warm sienna glaze and decorated with hand-applied slip dots in cream and green. The dotted floral rosettes and rim banding are characteristic of the Tlaquepaque pottery tradition — Jalisco's most celebrated folk ceramics center — with one smaller dish carrying an allover field pattern of clustered rosettes rather than the typical rim border. The set includes three large oval platters and five smaller oval serving dishes, sized for everything from a main course presentation to individual sides and salsas.
These pieces read equally well as functional serveware or as a wall grouping — the dotted decoration works beautifully against plaster, brick, or pine. The eight-piece grouping gives a host real flexibility for a layered table.
CONDITION
Good throughout. Signs of use and minor surface wear consistent with age; no chips and no remarkable damage. Light utensil marks present on platter interiors.
