Spanish Baroque Style Walnut Lyre-Leg Trestle Dining Table with Iron Stretchers
A handsome Spanish Baroque revival dining table built in the fratino tradition, with a thick plank top floating over twin lyre-form trestle legs joined by hand-forged iron stretchers. The top shows a reeded edge profile and warm walnut-toned finish that highlights the long grain of the boards. Each trestle terminates in deeply scrolled volute feet and is centered by a turned wood baluster, while the wrought iron tie-rods sweep outward in a graceful double curve — the signature silhouette of Iberian refectory furniture.
The form traces back to 17th-century Castilian and Catalan dining halls, where the splayed lyre legs and iron stretchers gave the long table both stability and visual rhythm. Scaled for a generous dining room and substantial enough to anchor a great room or large kitchen. Materials are solid wood throughout with unmarked construction.
CONDITION
Good overall. Scratches and finish loss throughout the top, with scuffing and finish wear along the base as shown. Joinery is sound and the iron stretchers remain tight.
