Woodard "Chantilly Rose" Wrought Iron Rolling Bar Cart, 1950s

A two-tier rolling bar cart in the Chantilly Rose pattern, attributed to Russell Woodard  and produced in the 1950s. The pattern is unmistakable — scrolled wrought iron worked into trailing rose-and-leaf garlands, framing a beveled glass service top above an expanded steel mesh lower shelf. A pair of large cast iron spoked rear wheels with original solid rubber tires carries the load, while two smaller swiveling front casters allow the cart to turn cleanly. The arched push handle at the rear terminates in matching scrollwork.

Woodard's Chantilly Rose line, introduced in the late 1940s and produced through the 1950s and into the 1960s, became one of the most recognizable American wrought iron patio patterns of the postwar era. Bar and tea carts in this pattern surface regularly on 1stDibs and Chairish, where restored examples command strong prices for use indoors as decorative bar service. The piece is unmarked, as is typical for Woodard production of this period.

CONDITION

Good and sturdy overall with age-appropriate wear throughout. The white finish shows scratching, chipping, and paint loss across the frame — most notably along the legs and scrollwork, where black undercoat shows through. The glass top is intact with surface scratching. Rubber tires are aged with crazing but remain in place.
