Broyhill Brasilia Walnut Round Dining Table & 4 Side Chairs, 1960s

A complete five-piece Broyhill Brasilia dining set from the mid-1960s, executed in walnut with the cathedral-grain top and arched, sculpted splat backs that define one of American Mid-Century Modern's most recognizable production lines. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer-inspired hands at Broyhill Premier, the Brasilia line debuted in 1962 and drew its visual vocabulary from the parabolic arches and clean monumentality of Niemeyer's architecture in Brazil's new capital city. The round pedestal-style table seats four comfortably and extends with the included 12" leaf to accommodate six. Four matching side chairs feature the signature arched cutout backsplats over green fleur-de-lis upholstered seats, raised on tapered walnut legs.

The set is constructed of walnut solids and veneers. Maker markings stamped under the leaf and on chair frames read 6065-L and 621, with additional production stamps 606563 / 31277 / b23 visible on a chair underside — consistent with Broyhill Brasilia factory marks of the period. The 12" leaf is included with the lot though shown in the supplemental reference image only.

CONDITION

Good overall and structurally sturdy. Finish wear and loss throughout, scattered stains and surface scratches to the table top, and chipped veneer along the edge of the table apron and the leaf. The green fleur-de-lis seat upholstery shows light soiling and small spots; reupholstery is likely desired by the next owner. Age-appropriate wear consistent with sixty years of use.
