Nambé 596 Cast Aluminum Modernist Candlesticks, Pair
A pair of Nambé cast aluminum-alloy candlesticks in the studio's signature biomorphic profile — a softly waisted hourglass form rising from a triangular footprint to a flared, trumpet-like socket. The mirror-polished surface catches and bends light along the curve, giving the pieces the optical liquidity that made Nambé's proprietary metal alloy a fixture of mid-century American tabletop design.
Both bases are marked "nambé 596" with the studio's stylized maker's mark. Designed for standard taper candles, the pair reads equally well as sculptural objects when unlit. Originating from the Nambé studio in northern New Mexico, founded in 1951, the form reflects the workshop's long collaboration with modernist designers working in cast metal.
CONDITION
Good. Scratches and surface marks throughout from use, and a small dent to the stem of one candlestick (see supplemental reference). Wax residue present in the sockets. We'll leave the polishing to you.
