Karim Rashid for Nambé Studio Polished Aluminum Asymmetric Vase, 1994
A sculptural Nambé Studio vessel designed by Karim Rashid in 1994, executed in the brand's signature polished aluminum alloy. The form is unmistakably Rashid — a softly squared, teardrop-tapered body rising to an angled, raised collar that cants the opening forward like a poured spout. The biomorphic silhouette reads as both vase and sculpture, equally at home holding a single stem or standing alone as an object.
The underside is etched with the Nambé Studio script mark, ©1994, edition or model number 72, an X notation, and the designer's Karim signature. The Nambé Studio line launched in 1993 as the company's designer-driven collaboration program, bringing in international names — Rashid among the earliest and most prolific — to translate the foundry's proprietary metal into avant-garde tabletop and decorative forms. Rashid's pieces from this era are now held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
CONDITION
Good. The surface shows scratches, light shelf wear, and some dulling to the high polish throughout — we'll leave the polishing to you. Form remains crisp and undented; maker's marks read clearly.
