Tall-Back Jacobean Revival Throne Armchair with Brass Finials, Pink Damask
A dramatically tall armchair in the Jacobean Revival taste, combining a steeply arched crest rail with turned bobbin-form spindle galleries flanking the seat and padded armrests. The hardwood frame carries reeded square-tapered front legs with stop-fluted reserves, splayed rear legs, and a pair of brass acorn finials crowning the stiles. Upholstery is original throughout — a soft pink damask woven in a scallop-and-floret pattern — with separately padded arm rolls and a domed slip seat.
The exaggerated back height and architectural silhouette place this in the 1960s–70s vogue for "throne" or "host" chairs, the kind specified by decorators for a foyer corner, a bedroom vanity, or the head of a long dining table. Frame is unmarked.
CONDITION
Good and structurally sturdy. Original upholstery shows minor fading overall and more visible wear along the padded armrests, including soiling and edge fraying at the front roll. Frame shows scuffing and age-appropriate wear without remarkable damage.
