1888 United States Morgan Silver Dollar
An 1888 United States Morgan silver dollar struck in 90% silver. The obverse presents the left-facing bust of Liberty designed by George T. Morgan, her hair drawn back beneath a Phrygian cap bearing the inscription LIBERTY across the band, framed by wheat ears and cotton blossoms. The legend E•PLURIBUS•UNUM arcs across the upper field, with thirteen six-pointed stars encircling the lower border and the date 1888 below the bust.
The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with wings outspread, clutching arrows and an olive branch, encircled by a laurel wreath. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs above with the motto In God We Trust in Gothic script across the upper field, and ONE DOLLAR below.
