1983-S U.S. Mint Olympic Prestige Proof Set — Six-Coin Set with Silver Dollar
1983 United States Mint Olympic Prestige Proof Set, issued to commemorate the XXIII Olympiad held in Los Angeles. The set contains six proof coins struck at the San Francisco Mint: a Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, Kennedy half dollar, and the 1983-S Olympic commemorative silver dollar designed by Elizabeth Jones, depicting a modern interpretation of Myron's Discobolus on the obverse and a heraldic eagle on the reverse. The Olympic dollar is struck in 90% silver; the cent is copper-plated zinc; the nickel is cupro-nickel; and the dime, quarter, and half dollar are cupro-nickel clad. Presented in the original burgundy leatherette folio with embossed Olympic eagle and rings, accompanied by the U.S. Mint specifications card.
