1982-S United States Proof Set, Five Coins in Original Mint Packaging
1982-S United States Proof Set, struck at the San Francisco Mint and issued by the U.S. Mint in original government packaging. The set contains five proof coins: Lincoln Memorial Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Kennedy Half Dollar, accompanied by the U.S. Mint's Department of the Treasury seal token dated 1789. All five coins carry the S mint mark, located on the obverse of each issue.
The 1982 proof set is noted by collectors as the first year the Lincoln Cent transitioned from a predominantly copper alloy to copper-plated zinc, and it is also the year the Kennedy Half Dollar reverted to a clad composition after the 1975–76 Bicentennial issues. The set is housed in the standard hard plastic lens with red insert and original black outer sleeve.
