1963 Austria 25 Schilling Silver — Prinz Eugen von Savoyen Commemorative
1963 Republic of Austria 25 Schilling commemorative silver coin issued for the 300th anniversary of the birth of Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663–1736), designed by Edwin Grienauer and struck in .800 silver at the Vienna Mint.
The obverse bears a seated three-quarter figure of Prince Eugene holding a baton, with the legend PRINZ EUGEN VON SAVOYEN 1663-1736 and the issue date 1963 below. The designer's signature, GRIENAUER, appears in the field beside the figure.
Prince Eugene of Savoy served as one of the most successful military commanders in European history, leading Habsburg forces against the Ottoman Empire and in the War of the Spanish Succession. His victories at Zenta, Blenheim, and Belgrade reshaped the political map of Central Europe, and his patronage of architecture in Vienna — most notably the Belvedere Palace — left a lasting cultural imprint on the Habsburg capital. This 25 Schilling issue was part of Austria's post-war commemorative silver program honoring figures and anniversaries central to Austrian national identity.
