Ethan Allen by Baumritter "Nutmeg" Maple Six-Drawer Tall Chest, Model 501
A classic Ethan Allen Early American tall chest by Baumritter, made in Vermont in the iconic "Nutmeg" maple finish. The case carries two small drawers over four graduated full-width drawers, all framed by a molded top edge and seated on a shaped bracket base with shaped apron. Brass Chippendale-style batwing pulls and small ring pulls on the upper drawers complete the colonial-revival vocabulary that defined Ethan Allen's flagship line through the 1960s and 70s.
Construction is solid maple throughout with dovetailed drawers and a branded maker's mark inside reading "Ethan Allen Early American by Baumritter, Made in Vermont." The interior of the case is stenciled "501 CHEST S. NUTMEG" identifying both the model and the original factory finish code. Baumritter, founded in New York in 1932, acquired the Ethan Allen name in 1939 and produced the line in Vermont until the company formally took the Ethan Allen identity in 1983 — placing this chest squarely within the brand's most collected production era.
CONDITION
Very Good with gentle signs of use and no damage noted. Finish is clean and even across the case and drawer fronts; brasses show light age-appropriate patina. Drawers run smoothly on wood runners.
