Brass Ginger Jar Style Table Lamp with Bell Shade, 3-Way Switch
A substantial brass table lamp in the form of a covered ginger jar, the lobed melon-form body rising to a stepped collar and domed lid finial, raised on a base with cut-out feet in the Asian manner. The underside of the base is impressed 0245. Fitted with a three-way switch and topped with an off-white fabric bell shade with scalloped braid trim at upper and lower edges.
Lamps of this form were widely produced in the 1960s and 1970s for the chinoiserie-influenced interiors then in vogue, drawing on traditional Chinese ginger jar profiles and pairing the brass body with a fitted stand. The shape reads well on a console, sideboard, or as a bedside pair when matched.
CONDITION
Very Good and fully functional. Tested and working on the three-way switch. Brass shows light handling marks and minor surface scuffing consistent with age. The shade has staining, discoloration, and small spots along the braid trim at the lower edge.
