Description

Bohemian Ruby Cut-to-Clear Crystal Rose Bowls, Set of Three

A trio of ruby cut-to-clear crystal rose bowls in the classic spherical form, each cased in deep cranberry over clear crystal and hand-cut through the colored overlay to reveal bright facets beneath. The cutting combines a diamond-and-fan motif with crosshatched cane panels and stylized fan bursts, producing the dense, jewel-like contrast prized in Central European cut glass. Polished pontils and scalloped rims complete the work.

Rose bowls of this type were a fixture of late-Victorian and mid-twentieth-century parlor displays, intended to float blooms or hold potpourri where the glass itself was the centerpiece. Grouped as a set of three, they read as a cohesive lot — useful as a mantel grouping, console arrangement, or holiday tablescape where ruby and crystal carry the room.

CONDITION

Excellent overall with no remarkable damage to the cutting or rims. Light interior residue is hardly noticeable. Facets remain crisp and the ruby casing is uniform across all three.
