1969 Playskool Lincoln Logs No. 890 & No. 891 Canister Sets
Pair of original Lincoln Logs canister sets from Playskool, Division of Milton Bradley Company, dated 1969 under Berne & Universal Copyright Convention. The No. 890 set (green lid, 90 pieces) and No. 891 set (orange lid, 120 pieces) retain their full-color photographic labels showing the era's signature woodgrain printing and the smiling brother-and-sister build scene that defined the brand through the late 1960s and 1970s. Contents include the classic stained hardwood notched logs along with the green wood roof slats, red and yellow plastic chimney and accent pieces, and at least one original folded illustrated insert sheet.
Lincoln Logs were invented around 1916 by John Lloyd Wright — son of Frank Lloyd Wright — and remain one of the longest-running construction toys in American history. Playskool acquired the line in 1943 and produced these cardboard canisters with plastic lids from the late 1960s through the 1970s, a format collectors prize for its graphic punch on a shelf. Together the two canisters total 218 pieces as counted by staff.
CONDITION
Very Good with honest signs of use. Canister exteriors show light scuffing, edge wear, and a small patch of label loss to the upper front of the No. 890 canister. Logs and accessories present well with age-appropriate handling wear.
