1982 Selchow & Righter Scrabble Deluxe Edition No. 71 with Turntable Base
The Deluxe Edition Scrabble from Selchow & Righter, copyright 1982, Bay Shore, New York. This is the rotating version collectors hunt for — a recessed board built into a turntable base so players can spin the grid toward themselves rather than reading words upside down. The board sits in a molded white styrofoam tray with integrated channels for the four green plastic tile racks, and the raised grid surface holds tiles in place during play.
Marked No. 71, made in U.S.A. with some wood parts imported from West Germany. The set includes the original drawstring tile bag with Selchow & Righter logo, the Crossword Game Rules booklet, and an official score pad. An adult-owned example with the original outer box intact — a noticeable upgrade over the standard flat board edition, and increasingly scarce complete.
CONDITION
Very Good overall and complete. Box shows wear with scuffing, edge losses, and tape repairs to corners and seams; gameplay components present well with minimal use. Tile count not individually verified ⚑.
