Karim Rashid for Nambé Studio Cast Aluminum Vase Pair, 1994
A sculptural pair of cast aluminum vases designed by Karim Rashid for Nambé Studio in 1994, each form rising from a softened triangular base into an asymmetric, angle-cut opening. The polished aluminum surface catches light along the swelling curves and matte interior of the cut neck, giving each vessel the presence of a small modernist sculpture whether grouped or displayed individually. Both bases are signed Karim and marked nambé Studio © 1994 with model numbers 70 and 71.
Rashid — Egyptian-born, Canadian-raised, New York-based — became one of the defining industrial designers of the 1990s and 2000s, with work in the permanent collections of MoMA, the Met, and SFMOMA. His early Nambé Studio collaborations translated his signature "blobject" language into the foundry's proprietary alloy, producing pieces that bridge functional object and pure form. This pair represents that moment cleanly: organic geometry, mirror-bright surface, and the confident asymmetry that became Rashid's calling card.
CONDITION
Good. Surface scratches and light scuffing throughout the polished aluminum consistent with display age. We'll leave the polishing to you.
