Nambé 555 Kokopelli Etched Aluminum Alloy Tray, 1996
A Nambé tray with softly rounded corners and the brand's signature high-polish finish, the surface centered by a large etched Kokopelli figure — the humpbacked flute player drawn from Ancestral Puebloan rock art and adopted across the Four Corners as a symbol of music, fertility, and good fortune. The reverse is stamped nambé / 555 / © 1996, identifying the form and copyright year.
Nambé has been casting its proprietary eight-metal alloy in northern New Mexico since 1951, when the company was founded near the village of Nambé Pueblo. The alloy — silver in appearance but containing no silver, lead, or pewter — takes a mirror polish and holds temperature exceptionally well, making it a fixture of both serving and display. This Kokopelli design pairs the foundry's signature material with one of the most recognizable iconographic figures in New Mexico.
CONDITION
Good with honest signs of use. The polished surface shows scratches, light marks. Sold as-found — polishing is left to the next owner.
