Ilse Lanphere Owl Etching & Original Watercolor, Pair of Framed Works
A pair of framed owl studies by New Mexico artist Ilse Lanphere, comprising a signed limited-edition etching of two horned owls perched in a leafy tree and an original watercolor and ink study of a single owl on a branch. The etching is pencil-signed lower right and numbered V/4 an exceptionally small edition . The watercolor is signed "ILSE" lower left and rendered in warm ochre and umber washes against a soft blue sky.
Both works are matted and framed behind glass in matching black wood frames, the etching set against a vivid chartreuse green mat and the watercolor against a cream mat. Lanphere's owls share a distinctive graphic sensibility — wide-eyed, slightly anthropomorphic, drawn with confident line work — making this pair a natural set despite their different media.
CONDITION
Both works grade Good. The etching presents cleanly with bright paper. The watercolor shows toning to the paper consistent with age. Not examined out of frames.
