Description

Taos Carved White Oak Accent Chairs, Matched Pair

A matched pair of solid white oak armchairs in the Taos revival vernacular, with stepped, terraced cutwork that echoes pueblo architecture and Pueblo Deco motifs. The pierced backsplats feature three stacked diamond-form spindles flanked by sawtooth-cut crest rails, with matching stepped aprons beneath the seats and tiered, layered detailing on the arm terminals. Tapered square legs, pegged joinery accents, and a pale pickled finish keep the silhouette graphic and architectural.

The seats are upholstered in a multi-stripe woven textile — burgundy, rust, gold, and green — that picks up the earth-and-fire palette of the region. As a pair, they read equally well as occasional armchairs flanking a fireplace, as head-of-table captain's chairs, or as accent seating in an entry or library.

CONDITION

Good. Sturdy frames with tight joinery throughout. Light scuffing and finish wear consistent with use, with noted scuffs and rubs to the feet. Upholstery presents clean.
